[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will operate the ‘2021 Urban School for Sharing Urban Policies’ targeting local residents at 10 community service centers from June 25, starting with Siheung 1-dong Community Service Center, until November.
This urban school was prepared to share the contents of the ‘2040 Geumcheon-gu Comprehensive Urban Management Plan’ established in December last year with residents, to increase residents’ understanding and interest in the changing urban policies, and to encourage active participation from residents.
The main contents of the education include ▲Overview of Urban Planning ▲Seoul City Urban Planning System ▲2040 Geumcheon-gu Comprehensive Urban Management Plan ▲3080+ Housing Supply Plan ▲Air Force Base Development Project, and it also plans to guide information search methods such as introducing websites where urban planning information can be easily accessed and searched.
This urban school will be conducted in two parts. Part 1 consists of expert lectures on the ‘2040 Geumcheon-gu Comprehensive Urban Management Plan and 3080+ Housing Supply Plan,’ and Part 2 shares the ‘Current Status and Future Schedule of the Air Force Base Development Project.’
The 2021 Urban School allows any residents interested in urban planning to participate without a separate application. Residents who wish to participate can refer to the schedule for each district in the notice and join on-site on the day.
Meanwhile, the district has been operating urban schools to share urban planning information with residents, starting with the ‘Visiting Urban School’ in 2015, ‘Urban School Peek-a-Boo’ in 2016, and ‘Urban School with Residents’ from 2017 to 2019. Last year, the ‘2040 Geumcheon-gu Comprehensive Urban Management Plan,’ which contains the 20-year future of Geumcheon-gu, was established to reorganize the blueprint of Geumcheon-gu’s urban planning, and the urban school was resumed to complete it together with residents.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “This urban school was held to share the current status and future direction of the Air Force base relocation and development project, which is the biggest wish of the residents, with all residents and to accelerate the project,” and added, “We hope many residents will participate in this urban school for the future of Geumcheon.”
