Yongsan-gu, Why Launching a 3-Step Program to Prepare for College Admission Early Decision?
July 24 '1:1 College Counseling'... August 14 & 21 '1:1 Personal Statement Writing Guidance'... September-October '1:1 Customized Mock Interviews'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seongjang Hyun) has prepared a three-step program to prepare for the 2022 academic year college entrance early admission process.
First, on July 24th from 9:30 AM to 3:20 PM, a ‘1:1 College Admission Counseling’ course will be held in six sessions. The target is 42 third-year high school students in the area. Priority will be given to Yongsan-gu residents.
The instructors are seven teachers belonging to the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education College Admission Guidance Team. They analyze each student's school records and mock exam scores and conduct 40-minute counseling sessions per student via the video conferencing system (Zoom).
Students and parents can participate together.
In addition, in August, a ‘1:1 Personal Statement (Jasoseo) Writing Guidance’ course will be held in two sessions.
The sessions will be held on August 14th from 9:30 AM to 3:20 PM (1st session) and August 21st from 9:30 AM to 3:20 PM (2nd session), and participation in both sessions is required.
The target is 30 third-year high school students in the area. Five teachers from the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education College Admission Guidance Team will provide individual 40-minute guidance per student via Zoom. They compare the personal statements and school records written in advance by the students and point out areas that need improvement.
A district official said, “Since the 1:1 guidance is conducted over two sessions, revised personal statements can be reviewed again and additional improvements can be suggested,” adding, “This will be a great help for students to find their direction.”
Finally, from September to October, a ‘1:1 Customized Mock Interview’ course will be conducted. The target is 40 third-year high school students in the district, and the schedule and details will be announced later.
Those who wish to participate in the college counseling and personal statement guidance courses can apply through the district education comprehensive portal starting at 9 AM on the 28th. Applications are on a first-come, first-served basis and free of charge.
In the first half of the year, the district also operated the ‘2022-2023 College Entrance Briefing Session’ and ‘1:1 Customized College Counseling’ courses in a non-face-to-face format, receiving positive responses from students and parents.
