Seongbuk-gu Signs Business Agreement with 34 Care SOS Service Providers on the 18th... (Temporary Home Care, Meal Support, Housing Convenience, Accompaniment Support, Short-term Facility, Information Counseling, Well-being Check) Delivering High-Quality Services with Expertise and Experience, Achieving 90.28 Satisfaction Score from Residents
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) signed a business agreement with care service providers for the ‘Care SOS Center’ project, which will expand to seven major services (▲temporary home care ▲meal support ▲housing convenience ▲accompaniment support ▲short-term facilities ▲information counseling ▲well-being check) starting in July.
The agreement ceremony was held on the 18th at Seongbuk-gu Office. The agreement targets a total of 34 institutions, including two short-term facilities, 24 temporary home care centers, two meal support centers, and six accompaniment support centers, all of which are social enterprises, social cooperatives, and long-term care institutions with expertise and experience in their respective fields.
Among the 34 institutions that signed the agreement to provide services this time, the majority have been involved since the beginning of the Seongbuk-type Care SOS project.
The head of Center ㄱ at Institution A said, “We expect the Care SOS Center project to play a pivotal role in integrated community care through communication and cooperation between the public and private sectors,” adding, “We will strive to provide high-quality services that residents can trust and use with peace of mind.”
The Care SOS service began in August 2020, and according to a survey by the Seoul Welfare Foundation, it has received a comprehensive satisfaction score of 90.28 points from Seongbuk-gu residents, showing great response. Starting in July, the service will expand to include the well-being check service, which will take responsibility for residents’ well-being, providing seven major services.
The well-being check service is a service that continuously connects with applicants or those whose care services have ended, contacting them to ask about their daily well-being and providing emotional support by being a companion. A Seongbuk-gu official said, “We expect a more thorough welfare safety net to operate in the future, eliminating blind spots in care and preventing solitary deaths.”
As the proportion of single-person households in Seongbuk-gu reaches 40.6%, and policies related to single-person households have become an issue recently, the Care SOS Center identifies the most needed areas in their daily lives and provides tailored services, resulting in very high satisfaction. During the COVID-19 situation, it has been evaluated as a timely service by disinfecting and sanitizing to keep the living environment pleasant and providing accompaniment support services to elderly people who have difficulty moving and need vaccination.
Residents wishing to use Care SOS can contact their local community service center, the Welfare Policy Division at the district office, or the 120 Dasan Call Center to receive detailed consultation from a care manager. Within an annual usage limit of 1.58 million KRW per person, basic livelihood security recipients, legally designated low-income groups, and those with less than 85% of median income can use the service free of charge, while other general residents can use it with a personal payment.
