President Moon: "Will Do All Possible to Put Inter-Korean Dialogue Schedule on Track During Remaining Term"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the afternoon of the 22nd, President Moon Jae-in met with Sung Kim, the U.S. Special Representative for North Korea, at the Blue House and expressed his intention to cooperate for the virtuous cycle development of inter-Korean relations and North Korea-U.S. dialogue.
Park Kyung-mi, the Blue House spokesperson, said in a written briefing that "(President Moon) especially emphasized the need to cooperate so that the improvement of inter-Korean relations and North Korea-U.S. dialogue can develop in a virtuous cycle."
President Moon evaluated that "the Biden administration's approach of gradually resolving the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and diplomacy is appropriate," and urged close cooperation with South Korea to resume talks with North Korea and continue efforts to advance negotiations.
Representative Kim said, "I will do my best to resume North Korea-U.S. dialogue." President Moon said, "During the remaining term, I will do everything possible to put inter-Korean and North Korea-U.S. relations on a steady track," adding, "I hope to achieve success in improving North Korea-U.S. relations and establish denuclearization and peace on the Korean Peninsula."
President Moon and Representative Kim attributed significance to the outcomes of last month's South Korea-U.S. summit. President Moon said, "The South Korea-U.S. summit was the best meeting confirming the solid South Korea-U.S. alliance," and added, "President Biden's leadership stood out at the G7, and world leaders, including myself, praised 'America's return.'"
Representative Kim evaluated, "The photo at the G7 showing President Biden and Prime Minister Johnson pointing to President Moon demonstrated South Korea's elevated status."

Meanwhile, Spokesperson Park explained, "Following the presidential meeting, Representative Kim held in-depth discussions with National Security Office Director Suh Hoon on concrete and practical measures to resume inter-Korean and North Korea-U.S. dialogues."
