Jeon Dong-pyeong, Yeongam County Governor, explained the severe cold damage status of figs, Yeongam-gun's representative specialized crop, at the meeting, and since most farmers cultivate outdoors, he requested 2.1 billion KRW in provincial funds to achieve permanent cold damage prevention, support tunnel-type nonwoven fabric projects, excavator rental use, and fig orchard maintenance support projects to reduce farmers' burdens.
At the meeting, farmers had time to present various opinions such as improving fig disaster insurance and supporting living expenses budgets.
Director So Young-ho said, “We will strive to promptly execute the fig nutrient supplement support project and nonwoven fabric support project reflected in the first supplementary budget,” and added, “Other additional requests will be reflected as much as possible in next year’s budget within the scope prescribed by laws and regulations.”
Jeon Dong-pyeong, Yeongam County Governor, stated, “Budget support to prevent serious fig damage like this is more urgent than anything else,” and added, “We will prioritize solving farmers’ difficulties and continue to discover and propose response and support measures, and promptly carry out the necessary projects first.”

Meanwhile, Yeongam-gun plans to conduct a demand survey by the 25th for the tunnel-type nonwoven fabric project and orchard maintenance project, divided into 2021 and 2022, and intends to propose the project costs to Jeonnam Province based on the survey results.
