'2021 Goyang Urban Forum' Held: Sharing Urban Development Vision and Policy Proposals
Forum Held for 3 Days from the 28th at KINTEX and Other Locations in Goyang
[Asia Economy Reporter La Youngcheol] Goyang City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 22nd that it will hold the "2021 Goyang Urban Forum" from the 28th to the 30th at Kintex and other locations within Goyang City.
According to the city, under the theme of "Sustainable Citizen Happiness City," this forum will share visions for urban development and discuss policy directions with domestic and international experts in the fields of urban regeneration, environment, and lifelong learning.
The environment division will conduct a local tour on the 28th and 29th, visiting the Han River Estuary Ecological History Tourism Belt and Hyangdong Carbon Reduction Clean Zone, and hold a local forum at Kintex on the afternoon of the 29th.
The urban regeneration division will hold a local tour of the Wondang, Ilsan, and Neunggok urban regeneration project areas on the 29th, followed by a local forum at the Todang Culture Platform.
The urban regeneration session will proceed under the theme "From 空間 (empty space) to 共間 (shared space)."
Presenters include Professor Simone Carena of Hongik University’s Spatial Design Department, Professor Klass Kresse of Ewha Womans University’s Architecture Department, Professor Jeon Gwangseop of Honam University, and Jeong Gwangseop, Director of the Goyang City Urban Regeneration Support Center.
The environment session, themed "Carbon Neutral Eco-friendly Ecological City," will feature speakers such as Mark Buttigieg, Economic Counsellor at the British Embassy in Korea; Doug Watkins, Representative of the East Asia-Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAP); and Nam Jonghyo, Chief Technical Advisor at UN-Habitat.
On the second day, the afternoon of the 29th, the forum will continue with the opening ceremony, a keynote speech by Mayor Lee Jaejun of Goyang City, and the start of the lifelong learning session followed by policy forums.
On the final day, the morning of the 30th will feature the urban regeneration session, and the afternoon will conclude the forum with the environment session and a comprehensive session.

Meanwhile, since the first "Goyang Urban Forum" held in 2019, the city has derived six major agendas, including "development based on the city's unique philosophy and values," and reflected them in its policies.
