NC "Webzen R2M copied Lineage M"... Copyright lawsuit
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] NCSoft has filed a copyright lawsuit claiming that Webzen's MMORPG game 'R2M' copied Lineage M.
On the 21st, NCSoft stated, "We confirmed content and systems in Webzen's R2M that appear to imitate our flagship title, 'Lineage M.' We have deeply discussed the matter with internal and external experts and decided that it is necessary to protect our core IP (intellectual property rights)."
They added, "IP is the result of long-term research and development (R&D) and is a core asset of a company that deserves proper protection. To strengthen the competitiveness of the entire gaming industry, the environment related to IP protection also needs to be reinforced."
Webzen's R2M, released in August last year, is a game that adapts the core content and gameplay of the original PC MMORPG 'R2 (Reign of Revolution),' which focuses on 'power and combat,' to a mobile environment.
