At a press conference on the 21st, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency stated, "We have identified 16 buyers who purchased videos from Kim, and the Seoul Police are conducting a direct investigation." The police also plan to apply for seizure and confiscation of several tens of millions of won in criminal proceeds confirmed so far before prosecution.
The police have received damage reports from 18 victims related to this case to date. Given the long duration of the crimes and the large number of victims, this number is expected to increase.
Kim is suspected of recording and distributing nude videos of over 1,300 victims from November 2013 until recently. He contacted men through chat apps, induced video calls to record obscene acts, and then distributed and sold these videos on platforms such as Telegram. He lured men by posing as a woman and posting photos on chat apps. During the crimes, he also used voice modulation software to deceive victims. He is also accused of luring seven children and adolescents to his residence or motels, inducing similar sexual acts, and filming them.
Kim possessed approximately 45,000 videos (120 gigabytes), including videos featuring women, for his crimes, some of which were confirmed to be illegally filmed. The police seized about 27,000 videos (5.55 terabytes) filmed by Kim and three original storage devices.
