[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters is holding the '2021 Seoul Firefighting Skills Competition' to select players for the National Firefighting Skills Competition.
According to the Fire and Disaster Headquarters on the 21st, this Seoul Firefighting Skills Competition will be held over two days, from the 21st to the 22nd, at the Seoul Fire Academy located in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul. It will be divided into four categories: fire suppression tactics, rescue tactics, emergency medical tactics, and the strongest firefighter, to select the best teams and members representing Seoul Fire in each field.
Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, this year's competition is held on a smaller scale compared to previous years. Fire stations and firefighters wishing to participate will compete to showcase the firefighting skills they have honed.
According to the competition format, it is divided into team events for each category and an individual event for the strongest firefighter category. In the team events, teams of 4 to 6 members are formed according to the specified team composition for each category to compete, while the individual event determines the strongest firefighter through detailed events consisting of four stages, including fire hose rolling.
The Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters will award prize money, trophies, and commemorative medals according to the rankings in each category. The first-place teams in the team events and the first and second place firefighters in the individual event will be granted the qualification to represent Seoul City at the National Skills Competition to be held in October.
Meanwhile, the 34th National Firefighting Skills Competition is scheduled to be held in October at the Central Fire Academy located in Gongju-si, Chungcheongnam-do. Depending on the competition results, participating players will receive various benefits such as special promotion by one rank and special advancement.
