The mobile laundry sharing is sponsored by the Jeollanam-do Volunteer Center with a mobile laundry vehicle, and is conducted by selecting single elderly or disabled households who have difficulty washing bedding.
This bedding laundry volunteer service was promoted for the third time in Wolrim Village, following Bonghwang Village and Pogok Village in Yongsan-myeon in April and May. Five participants, including members of the Yongsan-myeon Saemaeul Women's Association and volunteers, collected, washed, dried, and returned the bedding to the applicant households.
Due to the characteristics of rural fishing villages with a high proportion of elderly population and many senior citizens, there are many hygiene vulnerabilities, and the need for washing bedding stored in wardrobes at home is gradually increasing.
Accordingly, the Yongsan-myeon Community Security Council also approved a project plan last month to expand the beneficiaries for the high-demand bedding laundry service.
Despite the bad weather and busy farming season during the event, village residents unanimously expressed their gratitude, saying, "It is often difficult to wash bedding due to physical discomfort, so we are very grateful for the laundry volunteer service."
