Regarding whether he will join the People Power Party, different statements have emerged with each passing day, suggesting that former Prosecutor General Yoon has not yet made up his mind or that there is a last-minute tug-of-war over the conditions for joining.
Lee Dong-hoon, spokesperson for former Prosecutor General Yoon's camp, appeared on the radio on the 16th and said, "If an overwhelming regime change is possible, I believe (former Chairman Kim) will join together," adding, "(Former Prosecutor General Yoon) will visit if he has the opportunity to meet." Former Chairman Kim initially gave a positive evaluation by mentioning a ‘moment of the stars’ regarding former Prosecutor General Yoon but recently changed his stance to express ‘no interest.’
Regarding the question of joining the People Power Party, the spokesperson made somewhat expanded remarks from his previous statement that "the timetable of former Prosecutor General Yoon and that of People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok will not conflict." He said they are considering a ‘plan to broaden the centrist forces’ even if it is not the People Power Party. The spokesperson said, "What former Prosecutor General Yoon is thinking is that we will listen to and embrace conservatives, centrists, progressives, and even the post-progressive generation disappointed with the Moon Jae-in administration." He added, "In next year’s presidential election, we must win by encompassing conservatives, centrists, and defected progressives to ensure stable governance after taking power," explaining, "He believes that whether by joining the People Power Party or through a one-shot national primary, the conservative camp must take the lead and pull the centrist and progressive camps along."
The spokesperson also said, "Former Prosecutor General Yoon always talks about ‘fairness and common sense.’ I think this was best expressed in President Moon Jae-in’s inaugural speech. However, looking at what the people have witnessed over the past four years, it has been the hypocrisy, incompetence, and double standards of the regime."

Meanwhile, Professor Lee Cheol-woo of Yonsei University Law School, known as a close friend of former Prosecutor General Yoon, gave a lecture to first-term lawmakers of the People Power Party on the same day. In his lecture, Professor Lee stated that the fairness of People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok and former Prosecutor General Yoon overlaps significantly, saying, "I believe regime change is possible only when the new politics of Leader Lee and the political spectrum that embraces centrist public sentiment combine with the politics of someone with a broad spectrum." He also interpreted former Prosecutor General Yoon’s visit to the Kim Dae-jung Library the day before as "a sign of his intention to inherit former President Kim Dae-jung’s spirit of reconciliation."
