KT led by Kuheonmo focusing on B2B, presents "Korea's DX Dream"
Following Last Year, 'Digital-X Summit 2021' Held
Introducing B2B Digital Transformation Cases and Achievements
"Leading Innovation in Other Industries as a Platform Company"
Decoupling from traditional telecommunications is not the end. KT, under the leadership of Ku Hyeon-mo, who has declared a leap to become a ‘Digital Platform Company (Digico),’ is setting the direction for the ‘Korea Digital Transformation (DX) Dream.’ This declaration aims to become a ‘stepping stone’ and ‘partner’ to help many domestic companies struggling with survival and growth amid the rapid changes triggered by COVID-19 successfully achieve digital transformation.
At the core lies KT’s differentiated platform based on the so-called ‘ABC (Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Cloud).’ Ku Hyeon-mo’s goal is not merely to provide platform services but to lead innovation in other industries within the B2B (business-to-business) market.
◇Presenting Digital Transformation Strategy
On the afternoon of the 16th, KT will present digital transformation strategies for B2B customers at the ‘Digital-X Summit 2021,’ held online. Following the launch of the B2B brand ‘KT Enterprise’ at the first summit in the second half of last year, this second event will showcase the B2B digital transformation cases and achievements pursued so far.
During the welcoming remarks, CEO Ku is expected to emphasize the importance of digital transformation. He will mention KT’s digital transformation cases and reiterate the policy to lead innovation in other industries within the B2B sector to realize the ‘Korea Digital Transformation Dream.’
Following this, Shin Soo-jung, Head of KT Enterprise Division (Vice President), who oversees KT’s B2B business, will deliver a keynote speech presenting ‘Strategies for the Successful Promotion of Corporate DX.’ Shin will introduce agile methodologies applied by KT during the digital transformation phase and emphasize the ‘Cloud Must’ strategy.
Digital transformation is globally recognized as the top priority task determining the future survival of companies. By integrating digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data into traditional industries including manufacturing, companies can maximize efficiency and productivity while creating new high value-added opportunities. A KT official defined digital transformation as “not merely integrating ICT but completely changing a company’s strategy, organization, processes, business models, culture, and systems based on digital foundations.”
◇Targeting the B2B Digital Transformation Market: "We Will Be a Partner"
Currently, KT is focusing on the growth trend of the digital transformation market centered on B2B. The global digital transformation market is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 23%, reaching $2.3 trillion (approximately 2,600 trillion KRW) by 2023. According to market research firms such as IDC, the percentage of domestic companies planning to apply digital transformation was only 20% in 2019 but is expected to expand to 80% by 2023.
The problem is that despite the increased importance of digital transformation due to the spread of COVID-19, individual companies find it difficult to implement it. While most companies recognize the necessity of adoption, they face challenges due to a lack of funds, personnel, and know-how. Shin Soo-jung also diagnosed on her Facebook earlier this year that “many companies want digital transformation but are not familiar with digital natives and lack related capabilities.”
In this situation, KT is advancing a strategy to establish itself as a ‘digital transformation partner’ for companies as a platform operator. ‘Digital Transformation Partner’ is also the slogan of KT Enterprise. Recently, to activate B2B digital transformation, KT formed a ‘B2B One Team’ by collaborating with companies composing the related ecosystem and established a cooperative system with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Through this, KT plans to preempt the B2B digital transformation market, which is expected to offer limitless opportunities.
