Kia Partners with Uber in Europe to Expand Electric Vehicle Adoption
Special Purchase Benefits for Kia Electric Vehicles Offered to Uber Drivers
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Kia is partnering with the global ride service company Uber to expand the supply of electric vehicles in the European market.
On the 16th, Kia announced that it has signed an electric vehicle partnership with Uber to provide special purchase benefits on its electric vehicles, including the Niro EV, to Uber drivers across Europe. Under this agreement, Kia will continue to strengthen its strategic alliance with Uber by supplying advanced electric vehicles to Uber drivers in about 20 countries in Europe.
Earlier, Uber unveiled a blueprint aiming to operate more than 100,000 electric vehicles in Europe by 2025 and to build a "carbon-free mobility service platform" with zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2030. To achieve this, Uber plans to convert half of the Uber vehicles operating in seven cities?London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, Madrid, and Lisbon?to electric vehicles by 2025.
Jung Won-jung, Head of Kia Europe Division, said, "The electric vehicle partnership with Uber will be an important milestone for a carbon dioxide emission-free mobility era. Starting with providing Kia’s advanced electric vehicles such as the Niro EV to Uber, we will continuously strive to create roads and urban environments free from pollution and noise."
Anabel Diaz, Head of Uber Europe and Middle East & Africa region, said, "Building a carbon dioxide emission-free mobility platform is not just a goal but a necessity, and this partnership is very important for the electrification of Europe."
