View original image[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Chungnam Provincial Fire Headquarters announced on the 15th that a total of 1,501 fires occurred in the area from June to August over the past three years, with 30% of all fires being related to electrical causes.
Casualties from fires include 1 death and 7 injuries, totaling 8 people, and property damage is estimated at approximately 3.1 billion KRW.
The locations of fire occurrences were highest in residences with 127 cases (28%), followed by automobiles with 46 cases (10%), warehouses with 34 cases (8%), restaurants with 33 cases (7%), livestock barns with 28 cases (6%), and factories with 26 cases (6%).
The causes of fires were mainly unidentified short circuits with 183 cases (41%), tracking (11%), and overload and overcurrent (10%), in that order.
The Fire Headquarters emphasized that to prevent electrical fires in homes during the summer, it is important to check in advance whether circuit breakers are functioning properly (tripping function) and to carefully inspect distribution panels (distribution boards and meters) and ceilings of houses to ensure no rainwater is seeping in.
