Qualcomm Opens Applications for STEM Talent Development Program 'Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship Korea'
Academic Paper Competition for Graduate Students in Science and Engineering Master's and PhD Programs
Up to 20 Papers Selected for Research Scholarship Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Qualcomm announced on the 14th that it is accepting applications for the ‘Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship Korea 2021’ until August 15. The Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship Korea is an academic paper competition for students enrolled in regular master's and doctoral programs. Applicants are required to submit research papers in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and autonomous driving, and final winners will be selected through written and presentation evaluations.
Held for the second time this year following last year, the Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship aims to encourage science and engineering students to pursue autonomy and expertise in their research activities and to foster the generation of creative ideas. Additionally, it provides a platform for knowledge exchange where participants can communicate with Qualcomm researchers and receive advice.
The research papers submitted by applicants will be reviewed by a panel of judges, followed by presentation evaluations based on the applicants’ presentations and poster sessions. Final winners will be selected by comprehensively considering the innovation and creativity of the paper’s ideas, understanding of the research and experimental results, and potential for further research. Qualcomm plans to deliver scholarships to the affiliated schools of up to 20 teams selected as finalists.
Oh-Hyung Kwon, President of Qualcomm Korea, stated, “Qualcomm continuously strives to discover and support talented individuals in science and engineering who can demonstrate innovative value and lead future-oriented changes. We are pleased to provide a learning platform through the Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship Korea where Qualcomm’s expertise and experience can be shared, and outstanding talents can exchange ideas and grow together.”
