Kim Young-woon, Former President of Gugak Broadcasting, Appointed as Director of National Gugak Center
Expert in Korean Traditional Music Theory, Former Professor of Korean Traditional Music at Hanyang University
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 11th that Kim Young-woon, former president of Gugak Broadcasting, has been appointed as the director of the National Gugak Center through a public competition by the Ministry of Personnel Management. The term is three years until 2024. The newly appointed director Kim is an expert in gugak theory. He has served as a professor in the Department of Gugak at Hanyang University, chairman of the Korean Gugak Society, and professor at the Academy of Korean Studies, dedicating himself to gugak research and nurturing future talents. He also led gugak promotion as president of Gugak Broadcasting. Currently, he is serving as a member of the Cultural Heritage Administration's Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated, "We expect him to bring new vitality to the gugak community based on his extensive knowledge and experience accumulated in academia and the field."
