View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The COVID-19 vaccine reservation rate among the elderly aged 60 to 74 has exceeded 80%, and the number of reservations surpasses the vaccine supply allocated to medical institutions, resulting in some reservations being rescheduled to next month.
On the 10th, Jeong Eun-kyung, Director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), stated at a regular briefing, "(Due to the high reservation rate) depending on the region or medical institution, some of the reserved individuals may have their vaccination schedules adjusted," adding, "we have requested cooperation in adjusting vaccination schedules so that leftover vaccines generated from the use of low dead space (LDS) syringes at entrusted medical institutions can be administered primarily to those with prior reservations."
Director Jeong explained, "Even if some pre-registered individuals inevitably cannot be vaccinated depending on the situation of each regional medical institution, all will be vaccinated by July," and "we will individually notify the vaccination schedule to prevent any anxiety."
Starting today, at Janssen entrusted medical institutions, if leftover vaccines occur, those aged 60 to 74 who have pre-registered for the AstraZeneca vaccine can receive the Janssen vaccine if they agree to it. Citizens aged 30 and above can also make same-day Janssen vaccination reservations through social networking services (SNS) such as Naver and Kakao.
Pre-registration for unvaccinated essential workers under 30 from the 28th to 30th of this month
Additionally, as the pre-registration for second-quarter vaccination targets, including essential workers under 30, ended early, additional vaccinations will be conducted for those who missed the reservation and those omitted from the list during the target survey.
The additional vaccination period is from the 5th to the 17th of next month based on the first dose, and online pre-registration will be available on the vaccination reservation website (https://ncvr.kdca.go.kr) from midnight on the 28th to 6 p.m. on the 30th of this month.
The vaccine type is Pfizer, and the vaccination sites are regional vaccination centers accessible regardless of the address.
For those omitted from the list during the previous survey period, the respective responsible departments for each target group must submit the list by the 17th, which is the re-survey period for the targets.
Meanwhile, as of 11 a.m. on the 105th day since vaccinations began on February 26, the cumulative number of first-dose vaccinations is 10.06 million, accounting for 19.6% of the entire population. As of midnight on the 10th, the daily average number of vaccinations is approximately 117,000, with the highest daily vaccination count being about 913,000 doses (on June 7).
Director Jeong said, "The age group 75 and older, which has a relatively high vaccination rate of 74.7%, is showing a clear decline in cases," and added, "If we achieve the first half vaccination goal of 13 million people, which is over 25% of the total population, and maintain current quarantine measures, the number of confirmed cases is expected to decrease more sharply from mid-July."
