T'way Air, First LCC to Pilot 'IATA Travel Pass' Trial Operation
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] T'way Air announced on the 10th that it will become the first domestic low-cost carrier (LCC) in Korea to pilot the 'IATA Travel Pass' in collaboration with the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Earlier this month, T'way Air agreed with IATA to begin the pilot operation of the Travel Pass and started preparations for the resumption of international flights.
The IATA Travel Pass is a platform that allows airline passengers to electronically store and manage their COVID-19 test results and vaccination status on a mobile application. It offers advantages of being simpler and safer to manage compared to the current verification process using paper documents.
Currently, airlines from several countries are participating in the Travel Pass pilot program, and T'way Air has decided to promptly join as the first domestic LCC to participate in the pilot operation.
Passengers can download the Travel Pass app before traveling, enter their passport and flight information, and digitize their COVID-19 test results or vaccination information to easily verify whether they meet the entry requirements.
T'way Air plans to finalize the flights for the Travel Pass pilot operation through collaboration with IATA, conduct testing procedures, and then expand its use to actual passengers based on the pilot results.
The company is making various efforts to ensure safe travel for passengers, including expanding contactless check-in services, conducting in-flight disinfection, and checking passengers' body temperature.
