[Asia Economy Reporters Changhwan Lee, Gimin Lee] Hyundai Motor Group's dedicated electric vehicles, including the Ioniq 5 and EV6, were unveiled to the general public for the first time at an exhibition, receiving great acclaim.
Hyundai Motor and Kia participated in 'xEV Trend Korea 2021,' the largest domestic electric vehicle exhibition held on the 9th at COEX in Seoul, showcasing key eco-friendly vehicles and future technologies.
The vehicle that captured the most attention from visitors at the exhibition was Kia's first dedicated electric vehicle, the EV6. Kia presented the EV6 to the general public for the first time on this day.
The EV6 is Kia's first dedicated electric vehicle reflecting the new design philosophy 'Opposite United,' and it was praised for its sleek and sophisticated design compared to existing Kia models.
Mr. Kim (28 years old, male) from Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, who visited the exhibition to see the EV6, said, "The interior and exterior design are very good, and the performance seems comparable to imported electric vehicles."
Hyundai also unveiled the Ioniq 5, its first dedicated electric vehicle, to the general public for the first time at this event. The Ioniq 5 is the first model to apply Hyundai Motor Group's dedicated electric vehicle platform, E-GMP, featuring advanced technology and an innovative interior space.
At the exhibition, Hyundai also displayed the Nexo, a future-type SUV (sports utility vehicle) based on the next-generation powertrain hydrogen fuel cell system. The Nexo is a vehicle leading the hydrogen electric vehicle market, having achieved cumulative sales of 10,000 units in a single country last year, a world first for a single model.
Meanwhile, xEV Trend Korea 2021 is an event sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and Seoul City to expand private electric vehicle adoption, running from this day until the 12th at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
