Gyeongnam Province Expands Distribution of AI Speaker 'Aria' That Saved 45 Lives
Performing Emotional Stability Functions to Alleviate Loneliness and Depression in the Elderly
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 9th that it plans to expand the introduction of the AI speaker Aria, which can respond to emergency situations for the elderly while also providing emotional stability.
In emergency situations involving the elderly, there are often cases where they cannot even press the phone button within a few steps.
To prepare for such cases, Gyeongnam Province introduced the AI speaker Aria in November 2019, which can request help using only voice recognition.
Aria can immediately request help from anywhere inside the house as long as it can hear the voice.
Since Aria first started emergency rescue in Changwon on October 19, 2019, it has saved 45 precious lives as of May 2021.
Among these cases, there were several where the person could not move at all and could only request help through voice recognition.
Aria provides local news, weather, and COVID-19 prevention guidelines. It can play songs and remind users of medication times.
Additionally, it has implemented cognitive test programs operated by major dementia relief centers so that they can be used at home.
The province is currently distributing and operating 2,860 AI speakers across all cities and counties within the province.
