TIPA, Supporting SMEs Beyond R&D to Successful Commercialization
TIPA-Korea Venture Investment-Venture Capital Association Sign MOU to Promote Investment Attraction for Small and Medium Venture Businesses
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] The Small and Medium Business Technology Information Promotion Agency (TIPA), Korea Venture Investment Corp. (KVIC), and Korea Venture Capital Association (KVCA) signed a business agreement on the 9th at TIPA's Sejong headquarters to revitalize investment attraction for small and medium venture businesses that have conducted research and development (R&D).
TIPA has been operating various commercialization support programs such as loan support through cooperation with private banks, export and sales channels, and recruitment of technical talent to support the commercialization of small and medium venture businesses that possess excellent technology and good items but face difficulties in commercialization after R&D due to lack of investment information and funding challenges.
This year, TIPA's core commercialization support policy is "investment activation." In the first quarter, it prepared the "Investment Activation Plan for R&D Performing Companies," and through collaboration with institutions specializing in venture investment, it promoted this business agreement to expand investment attraction opportunities for R&D performing companies.
The cooperation among TIPA, Korea Venture Investment which operates the Korea Fund of Funds, and the Korea Venture Capital Association representing domestic VCs is expected to serve as a bridge that drives the growth of excellent small and medium venture businesses into unicorn companies through investment attraction.
Going forward, the three organizations will mutually utilize information on promising investment companies and private funds, share information on the investment market, and strive to resolve the lack of investment attraction information for small and medium venture businesses and to achieve successful commercialization through venture investment in R&D companies.
They also agreed to cooperate in various support areas such as discovering funds interested in R&D-based small and medium enterprises, corporate education to strengthen investment attraction capabilities, joint investment briefings, and promotion. In particular, through regular operation of a working-level consultative body, they will focus on revitalizing joint investment briefings for meetings and networking between private investors and excellent R&D companies.
