[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol will attend the opening ceremony of the Independence Activist Udang Lee Hoe-young Memorial Hall, which opens at 2 p.m. on the 9th at Namsan Yejang Park in Seoul.
A representative from Yoon's side said, "Former Prosecutor General Yoon has decided to attend this event hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government."
This is his first official event attendance in about three months since he resigned from the position of Prosecutor General on March 4.
Also expected to attend are Lee Jong-chan, former National Intelligence Service director and grandson of Lee Hoe-young, and former lawmaker Lee Jong-geol.
Udang Lee Hoe-young is recognized as a figure who, after the disbandment of the Korean Empire's army by Japanese colonial forces, sold all his property and, along with his six brothers, migrated to Manchuria to lead the founding of the secret independence movement organization Sinminhoe and established the Shinheung Military Academy, playing a leading role in the anti-Japanese independence movement.
