On the afternoon of the same day, Prosecutor General Kim visited Gongsoocheo at the Government Gwacheon Complex to pay a courtesy call upon his appointment and held a private meeting with Chief Kim. Afterwards, he told reporters about this.
Prosecutor General Kim said, "Since Gongsoocheo has already been established, we discussed how it should properly function," adding, "As Gongsoocheo is in its early stages, there are many areas such as personnel, budget, policy, digital forensics, and trials where cooperation with the prosecution is necessary."
He continued, "We talked about how the prosecution, which has a history of over 70 years and is well systematized, should provide a lot of cooperation and support," and added, "If you watch closely, we will be able to cooperate more systematically and perform better."
However, it is known that specific issues causing conflicts between the two agencies, such as conditional transfers, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office regulations, and the investigation into the leak of the indictment by Lee Sung-yoon, Chief of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, were not discussed.
Prosecutor General Kim said, "Today was a meeting for exchanging good wishes, and contentious issues will be gradually resolved through communication among working-level officials," adding, "If necessary, the Chief and I will communicate to make efforts so that Gongsoocheo can perform better in the future."
When asked when the consultative body among Gongsoocheo, the prosecution, and the police would resume, he said, "Today, I even took a photo holding hands with the Chief," and added, "Since we agreed to do better going forward, it will happen sequentially. Please watch closely."
