Gwangju Seo-gu and Social Service Agency Join Hands for IT-Based Care Services
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 8th that it signed a business agreement with the Gwangju Social Service Institute (Director Jo Ho-kwon) to provide ‘IT-based care services’ to care recipients in the district.
About 10 officials from both sides, including Seo Dae-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu, and Jo Ho-kwon, Director of the Gwangju Social Service Institute, attended the agreement ceremony.
The two organizations agreed to mutually cooperate on ▲establishing a cooperative system for advancing IT-based care services ▲creating IT-based care infrastructure ▲building a network to advance care recipient patterns ▲establishing a linkage system between IT-based care services and community-integrated care.
‘IT-based care services’ are customized care services that analyze the lifestyle patterns of recipients through IoT devices and provide various services including preemptive responses when unusual patterns occur.
Six types of sensors in IoT devices that detect temperature, humidity, illuminance, movement, carbon dioxide, and odor analyze the lifestyle patterns of recipients, and care recipients are monitored and cared for through monitoring by care workers and on-site dispatch.
The Gwangju Social Service Institute has been providing services to 75 households of elderly living alone in the region since last year, and plans to expand this to provide services to an additional 130 households this year.

Seo Dae-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “Through various care projects based on IT technologies including AI, welfare services are expanding to care recipients who have not been reached before,” and added, “We will continue to develop better services and create an integrated care system so that the elderly can live comfortably in the community.”
