[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The culprit behind the incident where several cats were found dead in an apartment complex in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, has been identified as a resident in his 70s.
The Gangseo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 8th that they arrested a man in his 70s, Mr. A, on charges of killing stray cats using pesticides (violation of the Animal Protection Act).
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of mixing pesticides with fish bones and spraying them in the stray cat feeding stations prepared by cat moms between February and March.
During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated, "My wife, who is undergoing cancer treatment, could not sleep at night because of the stray cats' meowing, so I tried to chase them away," adding that he "did not intend to kill them."
