On the 8th, at the People Power Party's joint debate "Oreun Sori" held at the Baekbeom Kim Koo Memorial Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, former Supreme Council Member Lee responded to the question, "What is the first policy you will pursue if you become party leader?" with this plan.
Lee said, "Before policies, my first step will be to visit the Daejeon National Cemetery," emphasizing, "I will comfort the hearts of the surviving soldiers of the Cheonan ship, Captain Choi Won-il, and many bereaved families who were hurt by the inappropriate remarks made yesterday by a Democratic Party figure."
This was in response to the controversy caused by former Democratic Party deputy spokesperson Cho Sang-ho's statement that "the captain of the Cheonan ship drowned all his precious subordinates at that time."
