[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] LG Energy Solution (LG EnSol) is participating in the largest secondary battery industry exhibition in Korea, introducing the industry's first 'quaternary cathode material' and establishing a 'Sustainability' zone related to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management for the first time this year.
LG Energy Solution announced on the 8th that it will participate in 'InterBattery 2021,' held from the 9th to the 11th at COEX in Samseong-dong. It will showcase its innovations.
This year, LG EnSol's booth will be organized into the 'Sustainability Zone (ESG),' 'Reuse ESS Zone,' 'Future Technology Zone,' 'Each Business Unit Zone,' and 'Core Technology Zone.'
Specifically, in the Reuse ESS Zone, LG EnSol will exhibit its efforts toward a battery circular ecosystem. The 'Reuse Battery Project,' an electric vehicle charging station established at the Ochang plant, will be implemented in the exhibition zone to introduce actual cases of battery collection, reuse, and recycling infrastructure.
In the 'Future Technology Zone (Next Generation Zone),' next-generation battery products such as all-solid-state batteries for improved safety and lightweight lithium-sulfur batteries with high energy density will be showcased.
In the Each Business Unit Zone, various battery sizes will be exhibited, including the ultra-small cylindrical cells and button cells for wireless earphones in the Small Battery Zone, the 'Long Cell' in the Automotive Battery Zone which improves energy density by 16% and driving range by over 20% compared to existing cells, and the RESU16H Prime (16kWh) in the ESS Zone, which achieves the world's largest capacity for a single pack.
In the 'Core Technology Zone,' the industry’s first quaternary battery with aluminum added, 'NCMA,' 'silicon oxide (silicon monoxide) anode material,' 'Safety Reinforced Separator (SRS®),' and other differentiated material innovations will be displayed, along with process innovations such as 'Lami & Stack' and 'Long Cell Design,' showcasing core technologies that maximize battery performance and safety.
