The city will build a knowledge industry center with a total area of 18,000㎡, consisting of one basement floor and ten above-ground floors, on a 6,000㎡ site within the Seogimhae General Industrial Complex to cluster research institute companies and small and medium venture businesses.
The center is expected to serve as a hub that creates success stories for companies in new industries by establishing a one-stop corporate support service system from idea consulting to prototype production, testing and inspection, permits and approvals, marketing, and export.
Key fields include electronic medicine, digital therapeutics, and K-cell gene therapy, promoted by Inje University, a core institution of the Gangso Special Zone technology, and the Gimhae Life Science Industry Promotion Agency.
To this end, the city began land acquisition in February last year, issued a feasibility study and basic plan establishment service for the center construction in March this year, followed by the basic plan establishment and local finance investment review application in August. If selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups project by the end of this year, construction will begin in 2022 and completion is planned for 2024.
