[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Electronics announced on the 7th that starting this month, it will provide the 'Hybro' application, a global educational content subscription platform for children, on all webOS TVs released since 2018, including LG Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) TVs.
According to LG Electronics, this service is a measure to target the demand for non-face-to-face education by leveraging the advantages of LG OLED TV’s clear picture quality and eye comfort even after long viewing periods.
Customers can download the Hybro app from the LG Content Store on the home screen. Upon subscribing to the service, they can easily watch over 10,000 high-quality educational videos covering various fields such as language, mathematics, science, humanities, as well as music and art, on a large-screen TV.
Hybro provides customized educational videos tailored to the interests of children according to their age groups: ▲1-3 years ▲3-5 years ▲5-7 years ▲7-11 years. It is a platform recognized for its expertise, having been adopted in the UK's Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. This service is available in 145 countries, including Korea.
As non-face-to-face education becomes a daily routine, demand for TVs that are comfortable for the eyes even after long viewing periods is increasing, especially among households with children.
According to LG Electronics, the blue light emission of LG OLED TVs is at the industry's lowest level, about half that of premium LCD TVs of the same screen size. All LG OLED TV models have received the i-safe display certification, jointly developed by the US eye safety specialized certification body 'i-safe' and Germany's TUV Rheinland, marking a world first.
Additionally, the OLED panel has obtained the 'Flicker Free' certification from UL in the US, recognizing the absence of screen flicker. Notably, the OLED panel contains no components with cadmium (Cd) or indium phosphide (InP), which are classified as carcinogens by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. The total volatile organic compound emissions, known to cause sick building syndrome, are measured to be less than half compared to LCD panels.
LG Electronics also introduced that using the Magic Remote (AI remote control) allows customers to easily operate the TV screen as if moving a mouse cursor on a PC, which is useful for customers attending non-face-to-face classes.
