청 "No Mention of 'Cho Kuk' at Ruling Party Freshmen Meeting... Non-commissioned Officer Case Also Investigated by Senior Commanders"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] It has been revealed that no mention was made of former Minister Cho Kuk during the meeting President Moon Jae-in held at the Blue House with 68 first-term ruling party lawmakers. The Blue House stated that President Moon's order to investigate the 'command line' in the Air Force non-commissioned officer sexual violence victim's death case meant that investigations into senior commanders should not be excluded.
A senior Blue House official told reporters on the 3rd that when asked whether any content or mention related to former Minister Cho came up, "It did not."
When asked if there was any uncomfortable content for President Moon during the meeting, the official said, "There was none in the President's remarks, but it was somewhat included in the lawmakers' questions." Regarding this, Go Young-in, a Democratic Party lawmaker who represented the first-term lawmakers in briefing the meeting, stated in response to a reporter's question about whether there were any suggestions regarding former Minister Cho or real estate issues, "Today, the lawmakers did not feel there was a reason to ask the President about that."
The senior Blue House official said, "The atmosphere of the meeting was serious and good," adding, "When President Moon said, 'You are the first guests after remodeling the Yeongbingwan,' applause broke out among the lawmakers."
Meanwhile, on the same day, President Moon ordered a strict handling of the Air Force non-commissioned officer sexual violence victim's death case, especially instructing, "Look into the command line issues, including reports and actions up to the highest senior officers."
