[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] A great opportunity is opening for university students to directly experience district office administration.
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced that it will recruit 100 members for the "University Student Administration and Welfare Experience Group" to experience district administration and gain social experience during the summer vacation.
This program was prepared to provide university students with an opportunity to experience administration, increase their understanding and interest in district administration, and offer social life opportunities for career choices.
Eligibility requires applicants to be enrolled or on leave from a university (including junior colleges) registered as residents in Gangseo-gu as of the application start date (June 7, 2021). However, students from distance universities, Korea National Open University, computer training centers, lifelong education facilities, and credit bank education institutions under the National Institute for Lifelong Education are excluded.
The recruitment consists of 70 general applicants and 30 special applicants from households receiving basic national livelihood security benefits or legally designated low-income households, totaling 100 people. Selected students will directly perform various administrative and welfare tasks on-site, such as civil service guidance and document organization at the district office, community service centers, and comprehensive social welfare centers.
Students wishing to participate can apply from 10 a.m. on the 7th to 6 p.m. on the 11th through the popup menu on the Gangseo-gu Office website.
The district will select candidates by lottery, and the results will be posted on the district office website's notice board on the 14th, with individual notifications also provided.
The work period is from July 2 to July 29, and work locations will be assigned considering the participant's desired department and major.
Working hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., five hours a day, five days a week.
A district official said, "This is a great opportunity to experience public service and understand district administration during the vacation period," adding, "We hope many young people who want to spend a meaningful vacation will show interest and participate."
