Extended eco-friendly activities and benefit periods compared to last year's first introduction
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Hyundai Department Store announced on the 3rd that it will expand the operation of the 'Eco-Friendly VIP Program' introduced to spread eco-friendly culture in daily life. Following last year's industry-first introduction of the 'Eco-Friendly VIP Program,' which provides VIP benefits when customers participate in eco-friendly activities, this time the number of activities available for participation has been increased and the period for providing VIP benefits has also been extended.
Hyundai Department Store announced that it will operate the '2021 First Half Eco-Friendly VIP Program' from the 4th to the 24th. This program offers the entry-level VIP grade 'Green' benefits to Hyundai Department Store card members who participate in easily accessible eco-friendly activities in daily life, such as donating old clothes (365 Recycle Campaign), regardless of purchase amount, twice a year (once in the first half and once in the second half).
During the operation period, customers who participate in 5 or more of the 11 eco-friendly activities that contribute to environmental protection through small daily practices and receive certification at the customer service desks of 16 stores including the Apgujeong Main Store will be awarded the 'Green' grade. Benefits will be provided for three months from next month through September.
The 11 eco-friendly activities selected by Hyundai Department Store are ▲bringing unused plastic containers from home ▲using reusable containers for food packaging ▲not accepting disposable spoons for takeout ▲bringing a tumbler to use the free beverage lounge (CafeH) inside the department store ▲receiving electronic receipts ▲participating in plogging (jogging while picking up trash) ▲bringing resalable clothing and accessories ▲purchasing low-carbon certified products ▲bringing unused mobile phones ▲using eco-friendly shopping bags ▲purchasing items packaged in reusable containers at Hyundai Food Hall.
Compared to last year, the number of feasible eco-friendly activities has been increased from 8 to 11 to make it easier for customers to participate, and the period for providing VIP benefits has been extended from 2 months to 3 months.
A Hyundai Department Store official explained, "To naturally spread eco-friendly culture in daily life by raising customers' interest in eco-friendliness, we introduced the 'Eco-Friendly VIP Program' for the first time in the department store industry last year. During the short period of about two weeks, more than 10,000 customers practiced eco-friendly activities, and about 1,100 customers received VIP benefits, showing enthusiastic customer response."
Customers selected for the 'Green' grade receive a 5% discount (excluding some items) on regular product purchases made with the Hyundai Department Store card during the VIP benefit period, and free parking for 3 hours a day is supported at one registered frequently used store. Also, visiting ‘CafeH’ at 16 stores nationwide including the Apgujeong Main Store grants four free coffees per month, and customers are invited to cultural events and fashion shows.
