Professor Lee Jong-hwa of Korea University Elected as the 52nd President of the Korean Economic Association
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunbyeol Kim] The Korean Economic Association announced on the 2nd that Professor Jonghwa Lee of Korea University has been elected as the 52nd president of the association for the year 2022.
According to the Economic Association, voting for the 2021 senior vice president and the 2022 president was held from the 10th to the 27th of last month, and a ballot counting board meeting was held on the day. Professor Lee, who served as the senior vice president of the Economic Association this year, will assume the presidency through the regular general meeting scheduled for mid-February next year.
Professor Lee graduated from the Department of Economics at Korea University and received his master's and doctoral degrees in economics from Harvard University in the United States. He has served as the senior economist and director of the Regional Cooperation Department at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), international economic advisor to the president, and chief negotiator for the Group of Twenty (G20).
