View original image[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Uijeongbu City Sports Council has completed the establishment procedures for a special corporation, the first among 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province, and will officially launch on the 9th.
According to the city sports council on the 2nd, following the promulgation of the partial amendment to the National Sports Promotion Act last December, which includes the legalization of local sports councils as statutory corporations, a corporation establishment preparation committee was launched and has been preparing the establishment procedures through meetings.
Subsequently, a new charter was created and approved by the Gyeonggi Sports Council, and on April 9th, a founding general meeting was held where essential agenda items such as the charter, executives, asset contributions, and the establishment of the main office within Uijeongbu City Sports Complex were resolved.
Additionally, on the 17th of last month, Uijeongbu City granted approval for the corporation establishment, and on the 25th of the same month, the corporation registration was completed.

Lee Myung-cheol, chairman of the Uijeongbu City Sports Council, said, "The sports council, which was launched last year as a civilian-led organization, will be more stably established through incorporation," adding, "We will do our best and make every effort to become a sports council that contributes to citizens' health and the development of city sports."
