View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) is providing a much-needed opportunity for local women seeking jobs through the "Visiting Women's Job Field Employment Counseling Room," conducted in collaboration with the Seoul Women's Capacity Development Institute and the Seongbuk Women's New Employment Center.
Due to social distancing measures caused by COVID-19, many traditional job fairs have been canceled or scaled down. Recognizing that the "Visiting Women's Job Field Employment Counseling Room" is one of the few chances to obtain job information and receive employment counseling, Seongbuk-gu has continuously operated this service more than twice a month at high foot traffic locations such as Hansung University Station (Line 4), Sungshin Women's University Station (Line 4), and Gireum Station (Line 4).
On May 28, the "Visiting Women's Job Field Employment Counseling Room" was held near Sungshin Women's University Station in Donam-dong, Seongbuk-gu. About 40 women who had stopped working due to lack of job information despite their desire to find employment visited the site. Professional career counselors provided one-on-one job counseling, information on women's jobs and vocational training, job registration, and employment-related consultations on the spot.
A Seongbuk-gu official stated, "Despite the difficulties caused by COVID-19, we continue to operate the 'Visiting Women's Job Field Employment Counseling Room' due to the strong will of Seongbuk-gu women regarding jobs and employment. In 2021 alone, a total of 158 women participated, with 81 receiving job counseling and 77 completing job registration."
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, who visited the counseling room that day, said, "By continuously operating the Visiting Women's Job Field Employment Counseling Room, we are providing stable jobs to women seeking employment and improving the quality of life for our residents." He added, "We are also continuously exploring new locations to make the service more convenient for more people."
