Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters Hosts Nationwide Local Government Heads' Pledge Implementation Evaluation, Awarded Highest Grade (SA)... Mayor Yu Deok-yeol Achieves Top Performance for Two Consecutive Years in Both 6th and 7th Terms
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) announced that it received the highest grade (SA) in the pledge fulfillment and information disclosure evaluation conducted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters for the heads of 7th local governments nationwide.
Thus, Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol of Dongdaemun-gu achieved the highest score in the pledge fulfillment evaluation for two consecutive years in the 6th and 7th local government terms, earning the honor of being a "mayor who keeps promises well and communicates with residents."
The Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters evaluated 226 mayors, county governors, and district heads nationwide by collecting election pledge fulfillment and performance data as well as information disclosure materials over approximately 120 days, assessing five areas: ▲pledge completion ▲2020 goal achievement ▲resident communication ▲web communication ▲pledge consistency.
As key focus areas for the 7th local government term, the district selected seven fields: ▲economic city securing youth startups and jobs ▲educational city nurturing hope ▲welfare city growing through sharing ▲growth city leading sustainable growth ▲cultural city becoming part of daily life ▲environmental city becoming more pleasant ▲living safety city based on resident autonomy, and has been promoting 92 pledge projects.
In particular, Dongdaemun-gu has smoothly advanced initial pledge projects in all seven fields?economy, education, welfare, growth city, culture, environment, and safety?completing projects such as establishing the Dongdaemun Youth Center, expanding support for elementary, middle, and high school education expenses, upgrading private daycare environments to public daycare standards, installing stepping stones in Jungnangcheon Stream, building and operating Baebongsan Forest Library, creating a waterfront park under the national railway Jungang Line, installing a pet playground, and fostering a mature pet culture.
To ensure transparent management of pledges, Dongdaemun-gu regularly discloses pledge fulfillment status on the district website and operates a resident participation section, leading communication with residents.
Additionally, to check the fulfillment of 7th local government pledges, Dongdaemun-gu operates a resident jury panel selected by random drawing proportional to gender, age, and region, allowing residents to directly participate in reviewing the appropriateness of pledge adjustments and evaluating pledge fulfillment, thereby enhancing transparency and reflecting residents' opinions in policies.
