Tokyo Considers Converting Yoyogi Park Olympic Support Site into COVID-19 Vaccination Center
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] It has been reported that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will convert the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic outdoor cheering venue being set up in Yoyogi Park into a COVID-19 vaccination site.
According to NNN, a Japanese private broadcasting network, on the 1st, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is finalizing plans to cancel the installation of the "Tokyo 2020 Live Site" in Yoyogi Park.
Instead, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is reportedly planning to repurpose the site as a COVID-19 vaccination center for police and fire department personnel.
Originally, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government intended to set up an outdoor cheering venue in Yoyogi Park so that many people could watch the Olympic games and share the excitement, but the plan was reconsidered due to the spread of COVID-19. There is concern that if people gather densely at the outdoor cheering venue, COVID-19 could spread.
