View original imageThe government and local authorities now have a legal basis to purchase not only buried cultural heritage sites where significant relics have been excavated but also the adjacent lands. The Cultural Heritage Administration announced on the 1st that it will implement an amendment to the "Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Protection and Investigation of Buried Cultural Heritage" starting from the 9th, which expands the scope of land acquisition for preservation measures to include not only the preserved land but also the adjacent lands. The Administration explained, "Adjacent lands where construction or farming has become significantly difficult due to preservation measures will also be subject to purchase," adding, "Through acquiring lands adjacent to preserved sites, it will be possible to manage and utilize the preserved relics more efficiently."
