Shinhan Bank Unveils New Advertisement Featuring Actor Jo Seung-woo
On Rainy Days, an Umbrella Motif Conveys the Message 'Listening to Customers with Care'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Shinhan Bank announced on the 1st that it will launch a new corporate advertising campaign themed "Listening with the Heart" together with actor Jo Seung-woo.
Last year, Shinhan Bank introduced the "Thought. Connected, into Action" advertisement, which conveyed customer-centricity that moves beyond mere thoughts to actions. This new advertising campaign focuses on expressing Shinhan Bank's mindset of reconsidering even the smallest details from the customer's perspective and undergoing change.
The advertisement begins with actor Jo Seung-woo's question, "Can you see the tilt of those umbrellas on a rainy day?" It shows that an umbrella used alone stands upright, but an umbrella shared with someone tilts slightly toward the other person, delivering the message that, like an umbrella that leans to protect a precious someone even if my shoulder gets wet, Shinhan Bank will listen with the heart and put customers first.
Additionally, to convey comfort and healing to customers exhausted by COVID-19 and to provide a relaxing experience similar to listening to the radio or audiobooks, the advertisement excludes stimulating or commercial messages and features the sound of rain and gentle music overlaid with actor Jo Seung-woo's calm narration.
Along with the launch of the new advertisement, Shinhan Bank is conducting the "#ShinhanHeartUmbrella" campaign, which means "Listening with the heart to the precious people beside me." This campaign runs from the 7th to the end of this month, inviting participants to upload photos and stories of sharing an umbrella with someone special on social networking services (SNS) such as Instagram with the #ShinhanHeartUmbrella hashtag. Depending on the number of participants, transparent umbrellas for children's traffic safety will be donated to daycare centers and elementary schools.

A Shinhan Bank official said, "We wanted to deliver the customer-centric message of listening with the heart to customers first, just as one tilts an umbrella for someone else, through the refreshing sound of rain and the warm voice of actor Jo Seung-woo," adding, "We ask for active participation in the #ShinhanHeartUmbrella campaign for children's traffic safety during the rainy season."
