Director of the National Library for Persons with Disabilities Appointed: Won Jong-pil, Planning Director of the Center for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
"The Right Person to Strengthen Access to Knowledge and Information for People with Disabilities"
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 1st that Won Jongpil (47) has been appointed as the director of the National Library for Disabled Persons through a public recruitment by the Ministry of Personnel Management. The term is three years until 2024. Director Won previously served as the director of public relations and secretary general at organizations such as the Korea Disabled People's Federation, the Korea Federation of Organizations of the Disabled, and the Korea Independent Living Centers Federation. He is regarded as the right person to strengthen access to knowledge and information for disabled people, having accumulated diverse experience and knowledge in the disability field. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated, "As a visually impaired person himself, he accurately understands the welfare needs of disabled people," and added, "We expect him to realize not only improvements in knowledge and information services for the disabled but also the realization of information welfare."
