LG's Last Smartphone

Limited Edition Premium, etc.
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The 'LG Velvet 2 Pro,' famous as LG's last smartphone, has had its sales schedule temporarily postponed due to server overload at the employee mall. At one point, simultaneous waiters reached as many as 15,000, reflecting the high level of interest.
According to industry sources and IT tipster Tron on the 1st, LG Electronics originally planned to sell the LG Velvet 2 Pro through the employee mall 'LG Lifecare' starting at 9 a.m. the previous day, but the sales schedule was postponed due to server paralysis caused by excessive site traffic.
LG Electronics stated in a notice, "The LG Velvet 2 Pro scheduled for sale today could not proceed normally due to system overload," adding, "We will provide further guidance on future sales plans. We apologize for the inconvenience."
The LG Velvet 2 Pro, also known as 'LG Rainbow,' was sold exclusively to LG Electronics affiliates' employees. It attracted attention due to its limited sale of 3,000 units on a first-come, first-served basis at an affordable price in the 190,000 KRW range, along with a limited edition premium. There was also a clause stating that transfers were only allowed to immediate family members and resale was prohibited.

LG Electronics officially ended its smartphone business without any separate event as of the 31st of last month. The company had previously formalized the closure, citing that the MC (Mobile Communications) division responsible for the smartphone business recorded a cumulative operating loss exceeding 5 trillion KRW. However, they plan to continue customer support such as after-sales service (AS) for about two more years to minimize inconvenience.
