P4G Seoul Green Future Summit Concludes with Adoption of 'Seoul Declaration'... 38 Countries Including Korea, USA, Japan, China Participate
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] "Achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 is not an impossible goal, and it will bring us tremendous economic opportunities." John Kerry, the U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, said this on the 31st during the summit discussion session of the '2021 P4G Seoul Green Future Summit'.
Special Envoy John Kerry predicted, "The energy transition market will emerge as the world's largest market. This will bring us the greatest transformation since the Industrial Revolution."
Special Envoy John Kerry urged, "Countries accounting for 55% of the global GDP have expressed strong determination to achieve the 1.5℃ warming limit target. Then the remaining 45% of countries must also join."
The summit session that day was chaired by President Moon Jae-in, with participation from 13 leaders including heads of state from 12 countries and the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said, "Last year, we created 13 climate partnerships. We are cooperating with Danish companies. We are building the world's first energy island and striving to produce clean energy. Partnerships are fundamental to Denmark's green journey."
Colombian President Iv?n Duque M?rquez emphasized, "Colombia is betting heavily on history. In other words, we will achieve a 51% reduction in our carbon dioxide emissions by 2030," adding, "Protecting our region ultimately means protecting sustainability."
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said, "Korea can inspire international partners. We hope more countries will now pledge carbon neutrality by 2050," and suggested, "The next six months are really important. They are crucial for our health, well-being, and prosperity. Let's cooperate together."
Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said, "Korea's Green New Deal will also drive economic recovery in the post-COVID-19 era," and urged, "(Investment in sustainable future growth) is a great opportunity for growth and job creation. We must not miss this."
Meanwhile, President Moon concluded the P4G Summit with the adoption of the 'Seoul Declaration,' pledging inclusive green recovery efforts.

The Seoul Declaration included participation from 38 countries such as Korea, the United States, China, Japan, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Colombia. Additionally, nine international organizations, including the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), were listed as supporters.
