Changwon City to Raise Meal Allowance for Food-Insecure Children to 6,000 Won Starting June 1
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, will increase the meal cost for children at risk of food deprivation from 5,000 won to 6,000 won starting June 1.
The meal support for children at risk of food deprivation is a program that provides meal expenses to children under 18 years old who are at risk of missing meals due to economic or family circumstances.
The target children in Changwon City number about 6,700. The city and Gyeongsangnam-do Province share the budget to support meals for children issued with child meal cards and children using local child centers.
To promptly raise the meal cost for children, the city held a Child Meal Deliberation Committee meeting last May.
As a result, the increase was decided with unanimous approval from all committee members.
Promotion for joining child meal card affiliated stores is also actively conducted, with about 1,400 affiliated stores registered.
