[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Kia unveiled the teaser image of the new Sportage, its flagship bestselling sport utility vehicle (SUV), for the first time on the 31st.
The newly revealed Sportage is the 5th generation model, introduced six years after the 4th generation launched in 2015. Since its debut in 1993, the Sportage has sold over 6 million units worldwide as of last year.
Kia explained that to convey its new brand direction, "Movement that inspires," the new Sportage applies differentiated design and enhances product quality to offer customers fresh inspiration.
The new Sportage reflects Kia’s new design philosophy, "Opposites United," which creatively fuses contrasting concepts, embodying the boldness of nature and modern sensibility.
The vehicle’s exterior features a larger body size compared to the previous model, creating a sportier yet more majestic body silhouette. In particular, the three-dimensional volume harmonizing with the body gives an overall sense of stable balance.
Additionally, the front is equipped with sleek and distinctive LED headlamps, projecting an urban and futuristic SUV image.
Inside, it is the first domestic compact SUV to feature a 12.3-inch panoramic curved display, arranged with a driver-centric layout.
