KT Supports 'Hologram Telepresence' at GYCC Remote Townhall Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Cho] KT announced on the 31st that it supported the ‘Hologram Telepresence’ technology to enable remote participation in the ‘2021 Global Youth Climate Environment Challenge (GYCC)’ and the town hall meeting of the future generation session at the ‘2021 P4G Seoul Green Future Summit’.
The GYCC town hall meeting held on the 29th at KT Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul, was conducted to convey the voices of young people worldwide to the P4G (Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030) summit. GYCC members from Seoul, Indonesia, Switzerland, and other locations met remotely to hold the meeting.
The hologram telepresence technology supported by KT this time uses a reflective hologram method and was developed in collaboration with the new media specialist company Dilusion. In particular, the reflective method has a wider viewing angle and no color distortion compared to other hologram implementation methods, making it widely used in remote meetings where many people need to view hologram images simultaneously, as well as in large exhibitions and performances.
Previously, in March 2019, KT demonstrated the potential of hologram telepresence by implementing the world’s first Korea-US intercontinental hologram using a 5G network at K-live in Sangam-dong, Seoul.
