On the 29th (Korean time), at Colonial Golf Club (par 70, 7,209 yards) near Fort Worth, Texas, USA, the second day of the PGA Tour Charles Schwab Challenge (total prize money $7.5 million) ended with Spieth shooting 4 under par to maintain his position at the top of the leaderboard (11 under par 129). Jason Kokrak is in second place (10 under par 130), while Patton Kizzire (both USA), Sergio Garcia (Spain), and Sebastian Munoz (Colombia) are chasing in a tie for third place (8 under par 132).
Spieth started tied for the lead and made four birdies without any bogeys. After consecutive birdies on holes 2 and 3, he added another birdie on the 6th hole to reduce three strokes in the front nine, and added a birdie on the 14th hole (both par 4) in the back nine. His long drives averaging 310.9 yards and a sharp iron shot accuracy with a green hit rate of 77.78% stood out. Leading for two consecutive days, he is in a position to aim for his second win of the season on his 'home course' following last month's Valero Texas Open victory.
Sergio Garcia, who was tied for the lead the previous day, faltered with 1 under par. Munoz and Kizzire each reduced five strokes, looking to overtake from a tie for third place, three strokes behind. Collin Morikawa is tied for 11th place (5 under par 135), 2019 champion Daniel Berger is tied for 16th place (4 under par 136), and Justin Thomas (all USA) is tied for 30th place (2 under par 138). The oldest major champion, Phil Mickelson (USA), remained tied for 76th place (1 over par 141) and was cut off.
