Thailand Approves Emergency Use of China's Sinopharm COVID-19 Vaccine
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suhwan] Thailand has approved the emergency use of the Chinese Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine.
According to the Bangkok Post on the 28th, health authorities have approved the emergency use of the Sinopharm vaccine. With this, the total number of COVID-19 vaccines approved for use by the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has increased to five, including AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Johnson & Johnson (J&J), and Moderna.
Previously, Sinopharm was granted emergency use approval by the World Health Organization (WHO) on the 8th.
Meanwhile, the Thailand COVID-19 Situation Administration Center (CCSA) announced that 3,759 new COVID-19 cases were reported on the day, bringing the total confirmed cases to 144,976.

Among the new cases, 1,294 are inmates. So far, more than 20,000 people in 14 detention and correctional facilities nationwide have tested positive for COVID-19.
