Government to Hold 'Innovation Growth Strategy Review Meeting' on the 28th

From next year, the scope will be expanded to include quick service, designated drivers, and platform workers.
Lee Eokwon, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, announced this on the 28th while presiding over the 19th Innovation Growth Strategy Review Meeting, Policy Review Meeting, Korean New Deal Review Meeting, and the 13th Vice Ministerial Meeting on Prices at the Government Seoul Office.
Vice Minister Lee stated, "In May last year, we announced the promotion of nationwide employment insurance, and according to the nationwide employment insurance roadmap, we are gradually expanding the coverage to all workers. As the first step of nationwide employment insurance, employment insurance for artists was implemented in December last year, and as of the 10th of this month, about 32,000 people have enrolled in the insurance."
In particular, from July, employment insurance will be preferentially applied to 12 special-type occupations including insurance planners, home tutors, delivery drivers, and door-to-door salespersons. From January next year, it will be applied to quick service and designated driver platform workers, and from July next year, it will be extended to other special-type occupations sequentially. Vice Minister Lee added, "We also plan to continuously expand the coverage of industrial accident insurance focusing on special-type workers to eliminate blind spots."
Furthermore, he said, "We are implementing a 175 trillion KRW plus alpha livelihood and financial stability program targeting companies and small business owners struggling due to COVID-19."
He added, "So far, we have supported 42.8 trillion KRW in funds for small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies through guarantees and loan expansions, and 38.9 trillion KRW in business stabilization funds for small business owners. Additionally, we have supported 17.5 trillion KRW for stabilizing the corporate bond and short-term money markets, and through the SPV, we have purchased 3.3 trillion KRW of low-credit corporate bonds and commercial papers, totaling 105.9 trillion KRW in support."
