COVID-19 New Cases in the 600s... First Dose Vaccinations 4,030,744, Vaccination Rate 7.8% (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The number of new COVID-19 cases in South Korea has reached the 600s.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced on the 27th at midnight that 629 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed domestically, bringing the total to 138,311.
Of these, 620 cases were domestic transmissions, and 9 were imported cases.
By region, Seoul reported 216 cases, Gyeonggi 168 cases, and Incheon 30 cases, totaling 414 cases in the metropolitan area.
In non-metropolitan areas, cases were reported as follows: Daegu 27, Jeju 26, Daejeon 23, Busan and Gyeongnam 18, Chungnam 17, Jeonnam 16, Gwangju 15, Gyeongbuk 10, Chungbuk 9, Sejong 8, Gangwon 7, Ulsan and Jeonbuk 6, with confirmed cases nationwide.
Among the 9 imported cases, 3 were identified during quarantine, and the remaining 6 were confirmed in the local community. Four were Korean nationals, and five were foreigners.
The number of critically ill patients is 154, and the death toll increased by 3 the previous day, totaling 1,943 deaths. The number of newly released from isolation increased by 606, bringing the total to 128,180.
The number of suspected cases tested was 36,235. At temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, 34,463 tests were conducted, resulting in 122 confirmed cases. In non-metropolitan temporary screening clinics, 6,678 tests were conducted, identifying 6 confirmed cases, making the total number of tests 77,376.
According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, 153,101 people received new COVID-19 vaccinations the previous day.
Among them, 87,165 received their first dose, bringing the total number of first-dose recipients to 4,030,744. The vaccination rate for the first dose relative to the population is 7.8%.

New second-dose vaccinations numbered 65,936, with a total of 2,012,919 people having completed the second dose. The vaccination completion rate relative to the population is 3.9%.
