COVID-19 cases linked to entertainment bars are increasing in Daegu.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jumi Lee] Twenty more new COVID-19 cases have been added from Daegu entertainment bars. It is also known that there are confirmed cases of the UK variant virus.
On the 26th, the Daegu Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters announced that as of midnight, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region increased by 30 from the previous day to 9,792.
By address, there are 8 cases in Dalseo-gu, 6 in Dong-gu, 3 each in Buk-gu, Nam-gu, Seo-gu, and Dalseong-gun, 2 in Suseong-gu, and 1 each in Jung-gu and Gyeongju.
Among them, 20 are confirmed cases related to the cluster infection at entertainment bars.
Since April 12, after a group of confirmed cases from Gumi and Ulsan visited an underground entertainment bar at a hotel in Sangyeok-dong, Buk-gu, the infection has spread mainly among foreign female employees. The total number of related confirmed cases is 199.
Among the additional confirmed cases, 7 are directly related visitors, but the remaining 13 are secondary infection cases, raising concerns about further spread.
Earlier, the Central Disease Control Headquarters announced at a regular briefing on the 25th that sample tests of infection cases related to Daegu entertainment establishments confirmed the presence of the UK variant virus.
Two more confirmed cases related to the Islamic mosque have also been reported. The spread is centered on worshippers who visited the mosque during Ramadan (April 13 to May 12), the Islamic fasting prayer period. The cumulative confirmed cases are 55.
Among the other 8 cases, 4 are under epidemiological investigation by health authorities to determine the infection route, 1 is a contact of a confirmed case with an unknown infection route, and 3 are contacts of existing confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, as local infections spread, Daegu city issued an administrative order from the 22nd to the 30th to prohibit gatherings and require diagnostic testing for workers at about 3,300 entertainment facilities in the city. Additionally, from the 26th to the 30th, for five days, operating hours will be suspended from midnight to 6 a.m. at restaurants, cafes, PC rooms, game arcades/multi-rooms, and coin karaoke rooms in Daegu.
